EN NOU GAAN WE EVEN HELEMAAL UIT ONZE PLAAT

Whether it’s with friends in the schoolyard, with your grandma in the kitchen, quietly under your desk, shamelessly in front of the mirror or just on the inside. Everyone dances sometimes.

But who decides how you dance? Who chooses our rhythm? Why is one person allowed to move like this and another not? Is there such a thing as the right dance? And what is dance, actually?

In EN NOU GAAN WE EVEN HELEMAAL UIT ONZE PLAAT (een topshow) we end up in an unknown dance hall where you are taken along by a moody DJ through all possible styles and moves.

There is voguing, slow dancing, breakdancing, hakken, hip-hopping, shuffling, popping, TikTokking and stomping.

But apparently, something is always wrong. A wannabe dance competition that no one understands. Because who actually invented those inimitable rules in this hall? And why?

In all sorts of swirling and absurdist attempts, five performers try to dance themselves free from everything that is determined for them.

A musical performance by Maas theater en dans and Acteursgroep Wunderbaum.

For anyone who doesn’t want to be told how it should be done.
