Richard Groenendijk

After playing the role of Edna Turnblad in the successful musical Hairspray for a whole season, Richard Groenendijk is back with a brand new solo show: Gelukkig heb je mij nog.

Groenendijk has become an indispensable figure in Dutch theaters. His previous show , Voor iedereen beter , was received with acclaim by both the press and the public, and he consequently received the prestigious Poelifinario for this performance—the award for the best cabaret program of that season. An award, incidentally, which he received for the second time in his career.

According to the press, Groenendijk is a jack of all trades. In reviews, he is described as crude, subtle, engaging, sensitive, serious, and above all, utterly witty. A man who delivers a bloodbath of playful insults, yet always makes room for tenderness and valuable reflections. A mercilessly comical born entertainer at the peak of his powers. As one reviewer wrote about his previous show: “Truly all inhibitions are cast aside and he sets Carré on fire. Then laughter ripples through the hall, just as we knew it from Toon Hermans.”

In Gelukkig heb je mij nog as well, Groenendijk once again takes the audience by the hand and leads them through his life. A colorful life in which there is always a fire to put out.
