The Young Analogues
The Young Analogues present the early Beatles repertoire: Best of The Beatles ’62–’65. Following the farewell of The Analogues (bringing Beatles studios to life for ten years), a new generation of young musicians is now emerging, using the authentic sound and vintage instrumentation with complete dedication. No dressing up, just pure Beatles.
The mission of The Analogues was clear from the start, more than 10 years ago: to perform live the music that The Beatles themselves never played. All studio years after 1967. That was a huge challenge due to the complex, orchestral arrangements.
At the farewell concert in the Ziggo Dome a year and a half ago, The Young Analogues provided the opening act with early work by The Beatles. They did it so well that many people asked: “Are they continuing as The Analogues?”
That wasn’t the plan, but under the guidance of original Analogues Bart van Poppel and Fred Gehring, The Young Analogues got the chance to develop further. Following the Analogues method: no dressing up, but complete dedication to the authentic sound – and fortunately, the extensive vintage instrumentarium was still available as well.
Fred Gehring: “The early work is less complex, more youthful, but no one will object when you call it genius. But when we occasionally played something from that early period – think of I Want To Hold Your Hand – something didn’t feel right. It is music made by young, fresh lads at the time; performed by gentlemen of a certain age, it just doesn’t feel entirely authentic.”
Bonno Getz, one of The Young Analogues: “We have a mission to stoke the Beatles fire among generations who didn’t grow up with it (like us). And just like with The Analogues, for us, The Young Analogues, it is ultimately about the music of The Beatles.”
The Young Analogues play material from before ’66. Less grand and orchestrated than the later work, but with a substantial string of number 1 hits, all equally inventive and energetic. With the Red Double Album as a reference, adventurous material from Rubber Soul, among others, is also featured.
