Milky Way
Sitting on a bench by the sports field, you stare at the sky until your eyes sting. Why do you sometimes feel so alone in this universe? The answer lies in the Milky Way – an imaginative dance theatre performance with acrobatics, music, and the comfort that there is always someone there for you.
In the 2023/2024 season, Milky Way won a Silver Cricket (for most impressive youth theatre production) and was nominated for a Young Swan (for most impressive youth dance production). Now the show is being revived with an entirely new cast of passionate dancers.
It is a performance that practices converting questions into movement, and trusting that someone will catch you when it all becomes too heavy. Sitting on a bench by the sports field, you are alone with your questions. You stare at the sky until your eyes sting and the cloud colors fade. But then, suddenly, nothing is what it seems anymore: a portal to another dimension opens in your backpack. Floating upside down through the Milky Way, you go in search of answers.
Milky Way is an imaginative, physical theatre performance about feeling lonely, but being there together – about hanging between being a child and an adult and setting your questions in motion.
