Kintsugi Workshop

Kintsugi Workshop

You’ll learn about its connection to Japanese aesthetics and concepts such as resilience, renewal, and the idea that breakage and repair are part of an object’s history rather than something to hide.

Please note: This workshop will be given in English About the event Join us for a mindful and inspiring kintsugi workshop, where you will explore the Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics with gold, guided by artist André Rios (www.andrerios.art).

In this workshop, we will begin with a short introduction to the philosophy behind kintsugi, a practice rooted in embracing imperfection, transformation, and the beauty of repair. You’ll learn about its connection to Japanese aesthetics and concepts such as resilience, renewal, and the idea that breakage and repair are part of an object’s history rather than something to hide.

André will guide you step by step through the kintsugi process. You will learn how to carefully mend ceramic pieces and highlight their cracks using golden dust, transforming them into unique works of art. No prior experience is needed; the focus is on both technique and the meditative, reflective nature of the practice.
