Kapsalon de musical
A new Dutch-language musical about inheritance, community, and resilience. Quin inherits her father’s hair salon and discovers that her true inheritance is not in bricks and mortar, but in the people who gather there.
In this musical, amidst mirrors, hairdryers, and barber chairs, a rhythmic story unfolds about grief, identity, and the universal desire to be loved. The performance moves between lived pain and euphoric joy, between loss and resilience. With symphonies complemented by a broad mix of musical influences—Afro-beats, hip-hop, gospel, kaseko, and contemporary pop culture—the project distinctly sets itself apart.
Kapsalon de musical is the second production within Brand New Musicals: a collaboration between 30 theaters, O. Festival, and NANOEK. Over the upcoming theater seasons, they are organizing a tour of 30 theaters with audiences between 150 and 300 seats for new Dutch musicals by new creators.
