About the event
Join us for a creative and meaningful Semamori embroidery workshop, where you will discover a unique Japanese tradition of stitching protective and symbolic motifs into textiles, guided by textile artist Inés Perpiñá.
Semamori are small embroidered symbols traditionally added to children’s clothing in Japan to convey wishes for happiness, protection, and well-being. During the workshop, we will begin with a short introduction to the cultural background of Semamori, exploring their history and the meanings behind different motifs.
After the introduction, Inés will guide you step by step through the embroidery process. You’ll choose from a selection of traditional Japanese designs and learn how to apply them to your own textile item—such as a t-shirt, bag, or jacket—or create a patch or charm using provided materials. The workshop combines traditional inspiration with personal expression, allowing you to transform an everyday object into something truly unique.
