Rinse, Reflect, Repeat

In the exhibition Rinse, Reflect, Repeat, artist Adriana Joëlle looks at water and the ritual of bathing. Inspired by Japanese bathing culture, Adriana Joëlle explores her personal relationship with water: as a place of rest, transformation, and attention, but also as an element that supports, shapes, and weaves the body. You can see her installation art at ACEC Ondergronds from September 5 to October 11, 2026. Texts run through Adriana Joëlle’s work that not only describe water but attempt to embody it. The shared reflections and rituals invite the viewer not only to understand water but also to experience it. Water appears as memory, mirror, and living body, a presence that constantly changes yet continues to repeat itself. Rinse, Reflect, Repeat The installation unfolds as an altar, an ode, and a ritual, composed of three parts: Rinse, Reflect, Repeat. Together, they form an invitation to pause and reflect on the bodily experience of water and the cyclical acts of cleansing and perceiving. About Adriana Joëlle Adriana Joëlle (1998, the Netherlands) works with diverse media, including installation, video, audio, archival material, text, and performance. Central to her practice is the constantly changing relationship between human beings, time, and memory. By exploring themes such as desire, loss, and rituals, she approaches her subjects as echoes from the past. In this way, she reconstructs moments that are no longer physically present and places them in a new spatial and temporal context. By blurring the boundaries between past, present, and future, she investigates the interplay between presence and absence. Starting from her own experiences but moving towards a collective memory, she creates space for reflection. A space or a moment to pause and consider what was, what is, and what may yet come.
