Pieter Derks
In his familiar tone—friendly yet razor-sharp—Pieter guides us through bizarre times. For no one is as attuned to the zeitgeist as he is. From doomscrolling to DIY, from world politics to personal ache and pain, in Pieter’s universe, everything is always connected to everything else. And amidst all the critical notes, he always keeps looking for a word of encouragement. So brace yourself for a complete night out, covering everything that goes hopelessly wrong, but delivered with so much energy, music, self-mockery, and zest for life that you’ll think to yourself: yeah. Fun.
Say what you mean. I tend to say what I think people want to hear. But perhaps you please the most by not pleasing. And I want to be direct in this show, no ironic undertones or opinions hidden in sarcasm, just transparent and straightforward.
You don’t necessarily have to take the title sarcastically either. I want to be critical, but not by rejecting everything. You only get somewhere by simply getting started. And how can you be critical, approve and reject the wrong things, yet still dive fully into life?
From a societal perspective: the warning against the dangers of digitalization – not for us personally, but for democracy and the rule of law. How we are lured in everywhere by things that are slickly put together, received with an innocent “yes, nice,” and then we all walk around with an addictive KGB computer in our pockets. All misery begins with someone saying: yes, nice.
